A Mondawmin Christmas

In 2015, I realized Luke Durant had been playing Santa at Mondawmin Mall for more than 30yrs. He had become more known for playing Santa than the proprietor of a candy shop in Mondawmin Mall. My appreciation for history, culture and nostalgia is what motivated me to start the annual photo with Mr. Durant.

So the tradition of the annual Christmas holiday photo that my mother started in 1968, re-started in 2015 with my daughter and I. I laugh as the photos show our personal changes from year to year. I smile because they also remind me of the challenges we overcame during each year. Not sure how long this run will last because nothing lasts forever. And, that is precisely why this annual photo tradition began: because nothing lasts forever!
